I was thinking the other day about how your thoughts on my page really make me think sometimes. Some of them are good, well thought out and entertaining. Some though are, well lets say different.
I thought that I would let you the people decide what song or band I should review next should be. I would like everyone to list 3 songs or bands for me to consider. After everyone has their input in, I will pick a winner and a loser. The winner will be the one that most inspires me. Don't suck up and put what you think I want, you will be mocked. i am looking for unique qualities that I would miss otherwise. The loser will be the band or song thats just plain bad. So you can shoot for the high or low end of the spectrum.
Also, I want everyone to comment on the submissions of the others, the good, bad, or what ever moves you.

OK, HERE'S MY BAND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR REVIEW, NOT NECESSARILY MY FAVORITES.
ReplyDelete1.THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, THERE POPULARITY ELUDES ME. MAYBE YOU CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS!
2.AUDIOSLAVE, WHY WOULD A SUPERGROUP BREAK UP TO MAKE MEDIOCRE MUSIC SEPERATLY?
3.OASIS A GREAT BAND THAT FELL SHORT HERE IN THE USA, HUGE IN EUROPE.
4.PORCUPINE TREE, ONE OF MY FAVORITES.
WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT, I THINK RATIO WOULD SUGGEST, TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS , THE HOLD STEADY,OR SHINY TOY GUNS,CAKE OR SOMETHING.
OK RATIO LETS HERE SOME GOOD ONES SO I CAN GO CHECK THEM OUT ON MY SPACE MUSIC!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, here's my three:
ReplyDelete1. Winter by Joshua Radin. I recently heard it on Pandora. Love it, but you don't like folksy songs in general... so we'll see.
2. What else is there by Royksopp. Weird video, but love the song. This song is probably different from what you normally listen to.
3. Same Direction by Hoobastank. Don't know how I missed it, but I only recently heard it. Great rock song.
First let me say "What Up". This is a pretty cool blog for music and there seems to be a lot of responses and banter.
ReplyDeleteSo I am going to give 1 song, 1 video and 1 band.
Song - Daughtry "What I Want" Hard rocking, great vocals and guest appearence by Slash.
Video - Evanescence "Call Me When You're Sober"
Band - Puddle Of Mudd
I checked out some of the suggestions. Pretty cool, some wierd, but cool.
Ok... you're gonna give me a hard time about this but here are my 3:
ReplyDeleteOutlandish- "Look Into My Eyes"
Yusuf Islam- "Father and Son"
Disturbed- "Down With the Sickness"
Be objective...
Ronnie, you are scaring me with your accurate appraisal of my musical situation!
ReplyDeleteThose are all pretty great suggestions also (surprised you didn't mention Death Cab), but those bands are all relatively well known and I'd like to shed some light on some bands that could use the attention of a leading music blog (with suggested sample songs in parentheses):
1. The Velvet Teen (Gyzmkid, Around the Roller Rink, Chimera Obscurant, Milo 7, Radiapathy)
2. the World/Inferno Friendship Society (Brother of the Mayor of Bridgewater, Ich Erinnere Mich an Weimar, Zen and the Art of Breaking Everything in This Room, Paul Robeson, Secret Service Freedom Fighting USA) (they have some seriously long song titles!)
3. Editors (Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors, Munich, All Sparks, Escape the Nest, An End Has A Start)
Also, I am seconding veto's request at investigating Röyksopp.
Thank you for your time.
[alter ronnie, here are some bands no longer in existence that I think are interesting: Chameleons UK, Guided by Voices, Catatonia, Joy Division, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pixies, The Teardrop Explodes.]
Jason...looks like you're going to be busy!
ReplyDeleteHere are my picks:
1. The Doors
2. Blue October
3.These R the thoughts--Alannis Morissette
Wow...Ratio...I have never heard of all your choices! How do you even find these band? Crazy!
Jason...maybe, it should have been one per person? Have fun!
Beatriz, I stopped listening to the radio and started digging into music magazines and doing some research. If you like a band, find out what bands they like, etc. I've found that if you keep following the chain up far enough, someone will have been influenced by either The Clash, Pixies or Guided By Voices. Or heroin.
ReplyDeleteJason, congrats on starting a blog with a vibrant and diverse comments section. Now, get to work!
